The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.
And this is becoming a growing problem, I think, because n

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

No really. OMG. New Smash Bros? I'm in love. Watch the trailer. Solid Snake. Freakin' hilarious. Slowly losing... ability to talk in... complete sentences... gah!!!

*breathes* - sorry about that guys. But whoa!!! Nintendo's E3 show / day / thing was admittedly sort of disappointing (all they did was talk about nintendogs! Though Reggie was there, which is always a riot. 'Iwata, why don't you handle the taking names - I'll take care of the... uh, you know. *wink*' XD I love how I'm talking about this as if I was actually there... XD I love Gamespot!). But this? This takes the cake. This has me sold. Wii, here I come! XD (uh... as long as it's cheap. PS3 is just a joke. I refuse to pay £350 for a console unless it can cook me breakfast and clean my house on the side. Bloody cheek! XD)

Speaking of PS3, mmm, FFXIII. [link] (weirdly, you can't download the trailer on Gamespot, though you can on IGN. I refuse to link that, though. I have an irrational hatred of that site. XD They've got it on 1UP.com, though, if you're one of the two people who haven't seen it. XD I'm so late with my news!)

I'm liking the look of it so far! Though I can't say I'm thrilled with the idea of a female lead (I thought she was a guy in the artwork O_o ) it all looks pretty cool, as long as there is actually some fantasy in there somewhere, and not just trains and soldiers! It's far too early to tell, of course. And FFXII isn't even out here yet!

OH!!! And *gasp* - [link] of the Abyss is getting a release stateside!!! Which hopefully means they'll bring it over here! *happydance*

Nintendo really pulled it out of the bag this E3-the ludicrous prices [and 'Innovative' new motion sensing technology in the controllers XD] for PS3 helped, but the general internet consensus has gone from "Wii? Nintendo are friggin idiots" to "Oh my god, I desperately want a Wii!!"

All my uncertainties for the Wii have been blown away and I can't wait for them now-definitely my top choice for the next gen consoles

I always thought the next gen consoles at this stage seemed kinda meaningless-just slightly shinier graphics and...that's about it with few titles that really seem that amazing announced-but the Wii looks incredibly promising with a lineup of amazing games announced

FF XIII does look interesting-liked the music from the trailer-unsure about the 'in game' footage shown-doesn't look turn based, but doesn't look like XII's system either...seems a lot more action RPG meets FFX-2 at a guess, but we shall see
Also yes-total lack of fantasy so far XD and only one character shown

I do look forward to this [and MGS4], but probably won't get chance to play unless I sell my house to buy the actual PS3

And Smash bros Brawl! XD I really wanna play as Meta Knight and Pit, Snake should be funny

I keep meaning to watch the MGS4 trailer! Though, to be fair, I've only ever played MGS3, and even then, I only played the 'Snake vs. Monkey' game, where you shoot at the monkeys from Ape Escape.

...I was... really bad at it. XD

But yeah, FFXIII looks smexy, though I admit I'm a little disappointed the main character is a girl (not that I could tell - I honestly thought she was a guy at first) - I'm a sucker for angsty prettyboys! (Though I've been playing FFIX recently, and WHOA - I love it! Possibly my fave FF so far! XD) And I kinda hope the system isn't turn-based... or as little turn-based as possible. Blasphemy, I know, but... I really suck at turn-based fighting... O_o (except in FFIX, for some reason. ^^ )

WIIIIIIIIIIII!!!! The Smash Bros trailer sold me. XD I've never bought a console just for one game before, but I think I may have to... (especially if tit's around £150 or less, as some people are saying. Damn you, Sony! *shakes fist* )

MGS4 looks very very weird, I must say...

MGS3 is my favourite-gameplay was very interesting and varied, and I absolutely loved the plot, but I have enjoyed the whole series
Snake Vs. Monkey was funny

and surprisingly hard

I don't mind a female lead in FF, I just have my concerns that at this stage her personality [like her design] may be more driven by these tech demos than the actual story-seeing as only one character has officially been designed so far lol

FF could work with or without turn based, tbh-I'm not one of these people who is adamant that turn based stuff does not make it an RPG, but I must say I often prefer turn based stuff to Symphonia and Kingdom Hearts style smack the hell out of stuff until it's dead
I kinda like fighting systems to have something special or some element of tactics to them, otherwise fights just become so tedious and just an annoyance slowing down the story

FFX battle system worked well, really-nice pace and good animations without dragging them out too much
I hear FF XII is very different, so that should be interesting

I really want Super Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros Brawl and Metroid Prime 3 for the Wii >.> Red Steel could be a laugh too-I do make a point of saying "I really desperately want a Wii" to one of my friends in public

I pretty much bought a Gamecube for Smash Bros Melee originally XD

I actually bought a GC for Skies of Arcadia originally (after buying a dreamcast for the same reason and having it break repeatedly on me O_o ), but never got round to it... it was always too expensive! *sob* But bring on SSBM! XD

Nintendo may not have the best graphics, they may not have the best sound, but they sure as hell have some of teh best games. I'm here to play games, not stare at the TV for the 5up4h 1337 gr4f1x. I say huzzah for Nintendo, hurrah, excelsior!

Plus think of PS3 and it's games. Blue Ray = expensive, meaning games = expensive. D8

Exactly! And besides, the way I see it, there's hardly much of a graphical improvement with most new games anyway. I mean, c'mon. They're selling xbox 360 versions of original xbox games for £20 extra, but you can barely tell the difference unless you shell out for an expensive HD television! *grumble* (and besides, the gamecube's graphical advantage over the PS2 didn't exactly help it out there... XD)
